You have the complete freedom to set the hours you wish to work! So that you can balance work and free-time, exactly the way you want to. You can decide to be available for teaching French full-time, or just some hours in the week, or only occasionnaly… You have all the flexibility that you want. Plus you can teach an unlimited amount of lessons.
You can teach French from anywhere in the world, be at home or any convenient location of your choice… as long as you have access to a computer with a good internet connection, a headset and Skype installed.
Using Ofrench as a Tutor is completely free. As a Tutor you can set your own hourly rate, and you receive payment for booked lessons directly to your Bank Account or PayPal.

Your earnings will vary depending on your rates, your availability, your profile (teaching experience and style, etc…) and your ability to build good relationships with Students. A successful Tutor can expect to teach French full-time on the platform.
Requirements to Teach French Online
Please note that all Tutor applications must be approved prior to listing.
- Your profile must be written in French (our Team will translate your Profile into other languages). As part of our quality process, our team reserves the right to make minor amendments to your profile, in roder to improve the online visibility of the site in Search Engines (for example, if you live in a provincial town in France, we are likely to write that you are a ‘French Tutor from Paris’)
- You are not required to have a Tutoring certification. Teaching experience is recommended, and will increase your chances of attracting students, but just being passionate about teaching French gives you the right to register as a tutor.
- You are required to have at least some basic knowledge of English so that you can reply to most Students enquiries.
How to use the Platform
What are the formats of the Lessons?
Lessons consist of 1-on-1 Tutoring Session on Skype. One session lasts 1 hour.
What do I need to teach French online?
You will need a very reliable Internet connection, a computer headset, a webcam and Skype. Skype is the only communication tool permitted by the platform.

How do Students book the Lessons?
Students can book the Tutors of their choice, and Ofrench is only an intermediary between the Students and Tutors.
Students are able to book Lessons, by visiting a Tutor page. They have the possibility to buy as many Lessons as they need.
Should I stay connected on the platform?
When you are connected to the platform, a green indicator is visible on your Profile.
Tutors who are online receive on average 5X more Lesson requests, compared to Tutors who are offline.
How do I contact the Student and give the Lesson?
Once the Lesson has been booked and paid by the Student, you will instantly receive an email with all the details about the Lesson (= Student’s Name, Skype account, Date & Time of the Lesson according to your timezone).
The email will also ask you to confirm your presence for the Lesson. Each Lesson must be confirmed, so if a Student books 5 Lessons with you, you will need to confirm the 5 lessons individually.
Once the Lesson is confirmed, you will just have to call the Student on Skype at the scheduled time, in order to start your session.
How do I handle Private Messages from Students?
Students often send Private Messages to Tutors, in order to discover more about the teaching method or to indicate their current level in French.
In most cases, Private Message is for the Student the first step before booking a Lesson with you.
So in order to maximize your chances of getting a new Student, we strongly encourage you to reply to messages as soon as possible, in the best manner!
How Ofrench works?
Ofrench provides Tutors with tools to help them grow their teaching potential:
– A constant flow of new students wishing to consult Tutor profiles and book lessons – Customer support offered by a team of dedicated French Staff
– A secure payment system – Specialized content on Grammar, Vocabulary and Methods to help you teach more effectively
Ofrench takes a fee equivalent to 50% commission on your first and second lesson with each new student. For all subsequent lessons, the commission varies between 30% and 15%, depending on the number of hours of lessons given on Ofrench. In short, the more you teach on Ofrench, the less commission you pay.

How do I receive payment for my Lessons?
The process is simple and secure.
Once the Lesson is completed, the Student is immediately asked (via online and email) to confirm that the Lesson took place.
Once the Lesson has been confirmed by the Student, Ofrench will send your commission to your Bank Account / Stripe Account (immediately) or to your Paypal account (in 25 days).
In the event that the Student forgot to confirm that the lesson took place, we will pay you within 30 days (provided that we have not received a complaint from the student)
Tutors located in the following countries will be required to set up a Stripe account in order to receive payment (payment will be sent on their bank account):
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
Tutors located outside the above countries will be paid by Paypal.
Managing your Profile, Availability and Sessions
How can I modify my password?
How can I modify my Profile?
Any modification to your profile (description, picture, hourly rate …) is done by our Team, within a few days.
You just need to email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org
For instance, if you would like modify your hourly rate, please let us know in US $ the desired rate and we will make modify.
How can I set my hours?
You are completely free to set your own hours, using your dedicated Ofrench Agenda.
You can set your availability by Hours, Days and Months. And Students can only book time slots which you make available.

How to synchronize my Tutoring Agenda with Google Calendar?
You can synchronize your Ofrench Online Agenda with Google Calendar. This way, all your Lessons will be shown in your Google Calendar:
– New Lessons will be automatically added
– Cancelled Lessons will be automatically removed
I won't be able to make the Lesson. Can I cancel the Lesson?
In the case of unexpected events, you have the possibility to cancel a Lesson.
Once you have cancelled the Lesson, we strongly encourage you to inform the Student of the situation as soon as possible, by sending him/her a Private Message.
My Student has cancelled the Lesson. What will happen?
The Student can cancel a Lesson, at no cost, providing 4 hours notice has been given to the Tutor.
In this case, you will not get paid for the cancelled Lesson.
My Student have missed the Lesson. What will happen?
In the case the Student did not show up for the Lesson, you will fully get paid for the missed Lesson.
I have missed a Lesson. What should I do?
If you missed a Lesson, you will not get paid for this Lesson.
We also strongly encourage you to send a Private Message to your Student as soon as possible, in order to inform about why you missed the Lesson.
My Lesson has been automatically canceled. What should I do?
In case you have forgotten to confirm the Lesson, the Lesson is automatically canceled by the platform.
