Léo Guichardon is a young professor of French living in Bogota. He was born and raised in a small town in the French Alps until he was 18 when he moved to Paris to study the profession of a sound engineer.
In 2016, at the end of his cinema studies and with a diploma in teaching foreign languages in hand (TESOL / TEFL), he made the decision to travel to finally realize his lifelong dream.
He first spent 10 months in Asia where he had the chance to practice as an English and French teacher, initially in Cambodia, then in Vietnam. These two experiences succeeded in transmitting to him the love of teaching. He who had always wanted to work with children was more than served in these two countries since his classes contained from 15 to 30 pupils and that the oldest was no more than 13 years old. His pedagogy and teaching methods developed considerably in this environment, and it is with great regret that he left this first continent for Australia at the end of 2016.
In Australia, Leo focused on other professional endeavors, as language teachers were not as sought after that. The competition was fierce and it was death in his soul that he had to resolve to consider other avenues. However, he continued to teach online, but on a much more ad hoc basis.
In early 2018, Leo landed in Argentina and traveled to Colombia where he finally had the opportunity to return to his true passion, teaching. Indeed, he started a new adventure in April 2018 with a Colombian English school located in Manizales, and he taught there for 5 consecutive months.
However, the post he occupied being almost voluntary and his savings gradually shrinking, he had to resolve once again to change his professional path and fly to New Zealand where a promise of more employment awaited him lucrative.
After a year and a half in New Zealand, his work visa ended and Leo left the country for Mexico in order to train as a scuba ping instructor. Sadly, COVID-19 made it impossible and so he jumped back into online education.
Today, Leo is back in Colombia where he does French tutoring online.
